Principal Message

Dear Vista Grande Students and Families,

I’m honored to begin my seventh year as Principal of Vista Grande Elementary School and my 27th year in education. Over the past several years, I’ve been grateful for the opportunity to build strong relationships with so many of our students, families, and staff. Vista Grande is a truly special place, filled with caring teachers, supportive families, and wonderful students. The phrase “It takes a village to raise a child” perfectly describes our community spirit.

As we start a new school year, our dedicated teachers and paraeducators are excited to welcome students and have been working hard to prepare lessons that support both academic growth and social-emotional development. Students will continue to benefit from enrichment opportunities in Science, PE, Visual & Performing Arts, Instrumental Music, STEM, and time in the Library—ensuring a well-rounded educational experience.

My own educational journey began in 1998 as a third-grade teacher. Over the next 10 years, I also taught 2nd, 4th, and 5th grades before transitioning to middle school, where I taught 7th grade Core and PE for an additional 5 years. In 2014, I moved into administration as the Assistant Principal at Diablo Vista Middle School, which was an enriching experience and helped prepare me for my current role.

I grew up in Walnut Creek, where my husband and I still live and raised our now college-aged children. Our daughter will be transferring to Sonoma State University, and our son will attend The University of Nevada, Reno, where he’ll continue his love of playing lacrosse. I understand firsthand how quickly the years go by, and it reinforces my commitment to making every school year meaningful.

I truly enjoy working with our Vista Grande community and feel honored to support such a vibrant and caring school. I look forward to welcoming back our returning students and meeting new families and kids as we embark on a great year.

We are a Falcon TEAM at VG—Together Everyone Achieves More!

Respectfully yours,

Osi Juergens
